Life’s a Journey, Invest Wisely

[This article originally appeared in Nobleman Magazine.]

Nobleman, Bart Zandbergen, a certified financial planner, sommelier, food and fitness enthusiast shares with us his favorite OC hotspots, essentials, and a few life lessons gathered along the way.

As they say, “life is a journey, not a destination”. In a world that is always on 24/7, and no shortage of innovations to help us fit more into our days, living a balanced life is a goal most of us need to continually work towards and be disciplined not to lose sight of. Investing in people and experiences allows many entrepreneurs the much needed recharge they crave after high intensity work days. Plus, living in one of the most desired locations in the world, it simply wouldn’t be right to not indulge in all that our surroundings have to offer.

By trade, Bart Zandbergen is a respected authority in financial planning and investment advising. With more than 24 years of experience, Bart’s expert point of view and direction has been sought out by clientele from across the country and published by the likes of the New York Times. Bart’s career began with whirwind success in computer programming and sales, but he felt he needed more. The pivotal shift in Bart’s career took place when his passion to change lives became a focal point. Open to suggestions, a close confidant suggested he consider a career in financial services- so, he slept on it…and then woke up at 2am, convinced he’d found his calling.

The pivotal shift in Bart’s career took place when his passion to change lives became a focal point.

Working steadfast on building his portfolio, Bart’s dedicated effort outside of the office to invest in his family, community and himself is where he’s seen his return payoff in dividends. A husband, father, and grandfather, his active involvement in organizations such as Center Club, the Laguna Community Foundation, the Laguna Beach Business Club, the Boys and Girls Club of Laguna Beach and Confrérie de la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs (yes, he’s a certified Sommelier) allows him to connect and engage with the community he loves and the sphere of influence he is proud to serve.

Here is what we needed to know from this Nobleman:

If you could only drink one wine for the remainder of your life, what would it be and why?
Champagne. I LOVE bubbles. Crisp, refreshing, well balanced and the BEST pairing wine of all. However, it would need to be real Champagne and not just Sparkling Wine if it was the ONLY wine.

What is your go-to game plan for a great date night?
First, my wife and I love to stop in to Selanne’s Steak Tavern for a cocktail, followed by a movie at Cineoplis in Laguna Niguel complete with dinner and…Champagne. If we’re feeling extra naughty, we may stop at Dolce Gelato in Laguna on our way home.

What does your perfect morning in Laguna look like?
By 5:30am I’d hit 9th Street (1000 Steps) in Laguna Beach for 10 rounds of the infamous stairs (5 of those lunging with 40lb dumbbells). Then I’d head home to clean up and take my baby Tehani to grab a latte and healthy breakfast at Anastasia Café.

What are you reading at the moment?
My NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine) Training Guides! I’m working towards attaining my Personal Training Certification as I’ve always been an active fitness enthusiast.

Describe your office style staples:
Custom suits, shirts and sport coats from bspoke style. They take the guesswork out of it for me.

Favorite Travel Destination:
My wife and I love Bora Bora in Tahiti. The St. Regis Bora Bora is our go-to resort of choice.
